The Next Conversation

Around 100 people attended a meeting at the Town Hall in September to debate the future of Devizes.

The meeting hosted by Trust for Devizes and chaired by Claire Perry MP was titled ‘A vision for Devizes – the next conversation’ and brought local decision-makers and residents together to talk about the future direction for the town.

Much of the meeting involved group discussions giving people an opportunity to raise their own points and talk about the issues they would like to be addressed.

The key points raise were around growth of employment opportunities, protecting the character of the town, ensuring we have the right type of housing to meet local needs, protecting had enhancing our local open spaces and managing traffic problems. After the meeting, Claire Perry MP said: “This was an opportunity to provide a platform for people to tell us what they think about their local area and what our priorities should be. Therefore, I’m delighted with the response to the meeting and the range of topics that were raised and discussed.

The Town Council now wants to continue this local dialogue and will work with other stakeholder and the community to shape a Devizes to ensure the town has a bright future and continues to be a great place to live and is able to attract new business and let our existing ones grow and flourish
