Committee: Joint Governance
This committee was established to oversee the creation of the new authority for Devizes combining Devizes Town Council and Roundway Parish Council, which is not complete.
Having completed its objective, the committee has ceased; however, the agendas and minutes are retain on the website as a record of its work.
Its objective was to jointly prepare for the amalgamation of Devizes Town Council and Roundway parish Council as one authority. This took place in April 2017.
Actions to achieve objective:
- Setting Priorities for future service deliver. The committee needed to document services delivered by each council currently and prioritise them in terms of importance to the community.
- Explore and document the important future aspirations for each parish. The committee needs to set outwithout prejudice or favour the known longer term aspirations each council currently holds for the community it serves.
- Recommending additional services and assets the new authority may decide to take on. In summarising the priorities and future aspirations for each Council, the committee will need to set out a series of recommendations to deliver these through either additional service delivery or the acquisition of new assets.
- Harmonisation of budgets. To deliver an accurate financial budget for the new joint council, to ensure that it can meet the cost of existing and new services it may decide to undertake.
